My name is shannon and I love the web.
I am a front-end developer in a graphic designer’s body. Even more than I love the web, I love a well-designed web. I work hard to achieve that. I truly believe that something that is designed well (whether it be a chair, logo, or website) holds much more influence over the consumer than something that is poorly designed.

Over the past years in school and my professional career I have learned a lot and picked up real world skills.

I love the creative process and incorporate it in all aspects of my life. When I’m not making the web pretty, you can find me making a lamp out of found objects or sifting through some neat old stuff at the local flea market.

I'm also looking for a job! I am looking for the next step in my career that will let me continue to learn and grow as a designer. If you think I might be a perfect fit for your company, contact me!

This horizontally scrolling website (created to mimic a parade route) showcases the chaotic fun of the Mal's St.Paddy's Parade in Jackson, MS. This parade is in the top 5 of biggest St.Paddy's parades in the country, and is easily the biggest weekend in Jackson, MS. After 30 years of successfully organizing the parade, Malcolm White (creator of the parade) decided he wanted to give the event a proper website.

There is also a slimmed down mobile version that provides basic information like a map of the parade route and event schedule to parade-goers on their mobile devices.

Redesigned portfolio website for Communication Arts Company while working here as their sole web designer. The company needed a fresh and clean look for the website. They also needed to look established and professional conveying their many years as a prominent design agency in Jackson, MS. The site was designed to have an expansive portfolio section showcasing CommArts 30+ years of design work.

After many sketches and ideas, I designed the final site design using Photoshop and Illustrator. I constructed the website using HTML/HTML5, Flash, CSS, and Javscript/JQuery. I have also integrated the Expression Engine CMS into the website. This helps other team members of CommArts update the website with ease.

Colorize Hair Studio is a local, small, one-person hair salon. The owner and only stylist in the salon wanted a vintage vibe with modern flair. I incorporated the colors from her business cards into the website to keep her brand consistent.

I designed the website in Adobe Photoshop after creating wire-frames for the website on paper. I built the website in HTML and CSS with a JQuery image gallery using the text-editing software Espresso.

Richard Kelso wanted a website that would showcase his paintings and would provide a way for viewers to easily contact him. I wanted to keep the website itself muted and simple to help showcase his soft paintings, since that is the main focus of the site.

I designed the website using Photoshop. I built the website using HTML, CSS, and Flash.
